Seven Hills and a Queen to Name Them (2015)

Seven Hills and a Queen to Name Them is the poem at the center of the massively collaborative CincyInk project led by Artworks Cincinnati. It began as nearly 1000 poems written 1:1 with city residents on manual typewriters, was synthesized down to a single poem which did its best to represent a complicated and lovely place, and was then tattooed on more than 250 people–line by line so the words live on, carried by individuals but belonging to the whole. It became sculpture, projection art, installations, a mural, and more. It was an honor to see this project through from start to finish; I got to work with and meet so many interesting people.
